Dear Friends and Supporters,
Give Me A Chance, Inc., a ministry of the Daughters of Charity, has found it necessary to cancel its two major fundraisers for 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus. We are asking for your support to enable us to continue our service to the women and children of our community. All donations directly assist the ministries of Give Me A Chance. We empower women by teaching marketable skills and providing opportunities leading to self-sufficiency. We also offer an after-school tutorial program for children to provide academic help and educational enrichment.
We are asking our friends, supporters, and community to consider a $50 donation to Give Me A Chance entitling the donor to three (3) tickets towards drawings of 3 different prize items of your choice. Prizes are listed on the tickets, at the bottom of this letter, as well as on our website. Your tickets will be entered into drawings for the items you indicate. You may select 3 different prize items or have all 3 tickets entered for one specific item. Further $50 donations may be made, each one earning 3 drawing tickets.
During these difficult times, we must ask you to help us continue serving the women and children. Our services are free to those in need, and any help that you can provide will keep these services on-going. Volunteers offer their time, talent, and dedication, and do so with commitment.
This past March, the U.S. Government passed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES ACT) to provide relief for nonprofits facing economic hardships during this pandemic. If you do not itemize deductions, you can now deduct an additional $300 per taxpayer in annual charitable donations. This applies to gifts made this year by check or credit card to qualified charities. If you do itemize deductions, you can deduct donations up to 100% of your annual gross income (60% previously).
We hope that you will take advantage of these tax-saving benefits by donating to Give Me A Chance. Thank you in advance on behalf of the women and children who will benefit from your generosity.
God bless you,
Sister Martha Garcia, D.C.
Executive Director
The Closeness Through COVID Drawing will be held on October 3rd, at 9:00am. Updates on the drawing will be on our Facebook event page (link at the bottom of this post).
It will not necessary to be at Give Me A Chance the day of the Closeness Through COVID drawing. We will be posting the results of the drawing on this event page, and sharing them onto our main Facebook page as well. We’ll also be contacting the drawing winners using the information they provided on their drawing tickets, so they will know if they won or not regardless of if they aren’t able to access the Event pages on Facebook. The drawing winners will need to come pick up their winning packages from the Give Me A Chance learning center. We will be open from Monday through Thursday from 10:00am-4:00pm, and the winners can come anytime within that time frame to collect their package(s). Further details concerning out-of-state shipping will be given soon, and we thank you for your patience!
For the Closeness Through COVID Drawing, we have a total of 7 packages for donors to be in the running for! Each ticket that a donor returns can be put to a package of their choice.
Packages 1 & 2 are each a Quarter of Beef. Package 3 is a rainbow-colored quilt, hand-sewn by Bonnie Bash at Give Me A Chance. Package 4 is a lavender quilt, hand-sewn by Give Me A Chance supporter Jane Mathis. Package 5 is an enjoyable Art & Tea session with Sister Lucia. Package 6 is a fire pit, with fireside goodies & treats inside. Package 7 is a pair of ceramics created by Sister Maria, who graciously made & sent them from California.
